While men and women within the Internet Marketing sector love Internet Marketing for the possibilities it provides, it is also painfully obvious that people who do not work in this sector tend to view it through a highly critical eye. IM and also the internet as a whole are still steeped in rumors and misconceptions. The people who work on the inside of it know just how legitimate and fulfilling it will be and, all the while, it poses an important problem: do you want to be judged for this world in your “offline” life?
Many folks who operate in the arena of Internet Marketing do so under a pseudonym. They use fake names because they prefer to keep their Internet Marketing work apart from the rest that they do, particularly when they only do the work part time. Many newer and also part time Online marketers are concerned about getting identified by their employers and family or friends. Obviously, even though you don’t worry about this kind of thing it is still important: should you choose a pseudonym for the work you do online?
There really are a large amount of benefits to using a pseudonym. The biggest perk, by far, is being able to create an identity that is separate from your personal life and makes it easier to keep the two from merging into each other. People who operate in especially strict or challenging fields or who are surrounded by those who view the Internet as a sketchy place benefit from using a pseudonym because it protects them from judgment.
If you are interested in work in a few different niches, using a pseudonym will help you be able to do that. This is the way they could create expert identities in numerous niches while building credible businesses without their having to worry about seeming like a dabbler. You do not have to be worried about anyone saying “but what about the conflicting market that you are also selling in?” because you’ll be doing that selling under a different name?
Sadly, though, often individuals decide on pseudonyms because they do not want to pay taxes on the money that they earn in their businesses. They appear to believe that if they do not do business under their legal names then they do not have to report any of the money that they earn to the IRS. Do not fall for this sort of logic. Even if you do business under another name the cash will still be considered income and you’ll be held responsible for it. Beyond that, the IRS will sooner or later find out about it–everyone who tries to cheat the system fails.
Whether or not you decide to use a pseudonym for the business you are doing is entirely your choice. For a lot of people it is merely easier to have one name for their offline life and another for their online life. Others, then again, assume that using just one single name makes your life much easier because there are fewer things to remember.
